The Walking Dead: 400 Days

The Walking Dead: 400 Days

The ideas and story threads of 400 Days deserve to be more than an hour and a half of DLC. An extra helping of Telltale’s phenomenal The Walking Dead featuring five intersecting narratives? Sign me the fuck up. Unfortunately, the minimal running time necessitates large gaps in those narratives and makes the consequences of player decisions highly predictable. Furthermore, several “action” scenes consist only of holding forward, and some of the trademark moral dilemmas feel like false dichotomies with obvious but unacknowledged third options. Those dilemmas are still effective playable Rorschach tests, and the writing, audio, and visual design are still top-notch, so this expansion is somewhat worth playing. It’s certainly not essential, though.
